Radical Wax on the Road
We hit the road twice in July and found ourselves somewhere a little unexpected… inland.
Driving away from the sea to go surfing still feels a bit odd, but wave pools like The Wave in Bristol are starting to change the surf industry. As more of these pop up around the world, even near surf spots, they’re becoming part of the surf scene rather than a substitute for it. And honestly? We’re here for it, seeing how inclusive they make surfing.
First stop: English Para Surf Championships
Our first stop was the English Para Surf Open. Athletes came from across the globe to compete, from prone to standing to visually impaired divisions, and the atmosphere was intense! These surfers are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and doing it with proper style and power. Congratulations to all those who took part.
Second stop: The Surf Show
A couple of weeks later we were back at The Wave for The Surf Show – a full-on surf weekend with over 1,000 surfers and brands all in one place.
It also happened to be during the heatwave. Think 35°C air temp and 28°C in the water. Safe to say, anyone turning up with cold water wax was in trouble, it was sliding off before they hit the lineup.
We rewaxed so many boards with our tropical formula and had great chats with people all weekend. One surfer even ran out mid-session, wax melting off, asking if we could help, we got him waxed up and straight back in. That’s what we love – helping out, being part of the stoke, and making sure your wax actually works.
What’s next? See you at Boardmasters & The Rising Tide Festival
Next up, we’ll be at Boardmasters for the Rising Tide event. I’ll be speaking on the panel on Friday 8th August. It’s a chance to hear a bit more about how Radical Wax and discuss sustainability in the surf industry.
Come say hi, ask questions, or grab a bar that sticks to your board and not the planet.
And don’t forget to have fun!!
